Heartland Public Radio's Apps for Smartphones, Tablets and TV Set-Top Boxes

You no longer need a desktop computer or laptop to enjoy Heartland Public Radio. You can now listen freely throughout your home or workplace via a WiFi connection using your smartphone or tablet. You can also listen on the go using your smartphone or cellular-enabled tablet via a cellular data plan. Very soon you will be able to listen on your television and/or through your home entertainment system using a Set-Top Television Box. Please look through our various apps below to find the one that will work for you.
ALL of Heartland Public Radio's apps are FREE. However data charges from your cellular carrier may apply when listening via a metered cellular data plan. Check with your cellular carrier for details.

Smartphones and Tablets

Apple Logo Apple iPhone / iPod Touch

If you have an Apple iPhone (and/or iPod Touch), you can download HPR's free iPhone/iPod app using one of the following methods:

1)
On your iPhone/iPod, open the App Store and search: Heartland Public Radio or HPR. Our app should come up in this search, and then you can install it.

2) If your iPhone/iPod has a QR code reader/scanner app, scan this QR code:

If you have a Kindle Fire tablet (and/or Amazon Fire Phone), you can download HPR's free app using one of the following methods:
Kindle note: this app is for Kindle Fire or equivalent Kindle Tablet computers. Kindle E-readers such as Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage do NOT support this app.
Fire Phone note: To the best of our knowledge, this app will work on all available models of Amazon Fire Phone.


1) On your Kindle Fire or Fire Phone, open the Amazon Appstore and search: Heartland Public Radio or HPR. Our app should come up in this search, and then you can install it.

Television Set-Top Boxes / Streaming Sticks

Amazon Fire TV

Heartland Public Radio's free app for both Amazon Fire TV Box and Amazon Fire TV Stick is now live and available for download.

Amazon Fire TV set-top-box streaming players connect directly to your TV or Entertainment System with HDMI cables and to your home network either with an Ethernet cable or via WiFi. (The Amazon Fire TV Streaming Stick player plugs directly into your TV or Entertainment System's HDMI inputs and can only connect to your home network via WiFi). These players allow you to stream television and radio entertainment via your high-speed Internet connection without the need of a computer. There are hundreds of free channels/apps available to Amazon Fire TV players, and, one of them is Heartland Public Radio.
Amazon Fire TV players also allow you to watch content from subscription services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, Hulu Plus, etc.

If you have an Amazon Fire TV Box and/or Amazon Fire TV Stick and would like to download the free HPR app, it's very simple to do using the instructions below. You can also watch the following YouTube video for reference to Method 1 below:

Method 1: Download the Heartland Public Radio free Amazon Fire TV app via your Amazon Fire TV set-top-box or Amazon Fire TV Stick.
1) On your television/enterainment system: select the proper input to allow you to view your Amazon Fire TV box or Amazon Fire TV Stick.
2) On your Amazon Fire TV remote control: push the Home button.
3) On the left-side navigation: scroll down and select "Apps".
4) In the Apps Menu: scroll down and select "Categories".
5) In Categories: scroll to the right and select "Music".
6) In Music: scroll to the right through the app listings and select our app. It has our logo and says the words "Heartland Public Ra..." at the bottom of the logo as seen when our app is to the side of the app listing in focus. Once you have our app in focus, you will only see our logo.
7) Select our app and then follow the standard procedure for installing it. You're done.

Method 2: Click Here (or click the Amazon Fire TV logo above) to visit our app listing on Amazon.com
1) Look toward the right of the screen on our app listing page and find the green-colored area.
2) This area should allow you to get our app. You should see the "Get Now with 1 Click" button if you are logged into your Amazon account that's connected to your Amazon Fire TV box and/or Amazon Fire TV Stick.
3) If you do see the "Get Now with 1 Click" button, click it to add our free app to your account. Your done.

4) If you don't see the "Get Now with 1 Click" button you should instead see a small "Sign In" button.
5) Click this "Sign In" button. It will take you to a log-in page.
6) Log into your Amazon account that's connected to your Amazon Fire TV box and/or Amazon Fire TV Stick.
7) After logging in, you should be returned to the Heartland Public Radio app listing where you should now see the "Get Now with 1 Click" button in the green-colored area to the right. If so, please refer to Step 3 above.

Roku

Heartland Public Radio's free app for Roku is now live and available for download.

If you have a Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Streaming Player, Roku 4K UHD Player or a Roku TV, you can download the free Heartland Public Radio Roku channel app using one of the following methods:

Method 1: Download the Heartland Public Radio Roku channel app via your Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Streaming Player, Roku 4K UHD Player or Roku TV.

Method 2: Click Here (or click the Roku logo above) to visit our channel app listing on the Roku Website
1) Click on "+ Add Channel".
2) Follow the prompts to log into your Roku account if you're not already logged into it.
3) The HPR app should now automatically install itself on all Roku devices which are connected to the account you logged into on step 2 above.

Like Amazon Fire TV devices, Roku players connect directly to your TV (with HDMI or composite cables depending on which model you own) and to your home network either with an Ethernet cable or via WiFi. (The Roku Streaming Stick player plugs directly into your TV or Entertainment System's HDMI inputs and can only connect to your home network via WiFi). (Roky TVs have the Roku streaming capabilities built in and are self-contained televisions which give you access to all of Roku's channels including HPR). These players allow you to stream television and radio entertainment via your high-speed Internet connection without the need of a computer. There are hundreds of free channels/apps available to Roku devices, and, one of them is be Heartland Public Radio.
Roku players also allow you to watch content from subscription services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, Hulu Plus, etc.

 



Desktops and Laptops

HPR Desktop/Laptop App for Chrome Browsers

We have received many requests by Desktop PC and Laptop users for an app that works on those devices. With the help of Google's Chrome Browser, you can now enjoy a simple, quick and easy way to tune in HPR via our free Chrome App. This app will require you to have the latest version of the Chrome Web Browser installed onto your computer. There are different versions of the Chrome Browser depending on which computer operating system you run. Currently, there are versions for Windows, Mac and Linux. Click here to choose your version and download Chrome...it's free.

Once you have Chrome installed on your computer, click this link (or the Chrome Web Store logo above) to go directly to the Heartland Public Radio Chrome Web Store listing. Then just click the button (+ Free) to add our app to your browser.

Pin Our Chrome App to your TaskbarOn some systems, you can open this app and then "Pin it to your Taskbar". This will make opening our app just one click away and always visible and easy to get to on your computer.

This app should also be available to owners of the Chromebook Laptop which runs on Google's Chrome operating system.

There isn't much to this app. It simply let's you tune us in without having to bother with our Website.
